It has been a successful few months in planning as June, July and August have seen a slight recovery in the number of consents issued for major housing schemes compared to previous months that appeared to have been heavily affected by COVID-19 restrictions.
According to Planning Resource’s latest survey of major planning permissions, 23 major housing schemes have been approved over this period, with an average of 1.9 schemes granted per week. This marks a rise compared to the immediate period after lockdown when the average number of consents per week was just 1.4 between March and May.
On behalf of our client Bloor Homes, White Peak Planning are pleased to have Project Managed planning consents for 2 of the 23 major housing schemes over this period. Bloor Homes achieved planning permission for 1,000 new homes at Basingstoke Golf Club in July, and for 800 new homes at Land East of Horndean in June.
Over the coming months, we hope that the planning system continues in its recovery in order to reach the government’s target of building 300,000 new homes a year.
